Try one of our new sprint races. These are ideal for the beginner adventure racer, while still providing a challenge to the veteran racer. Designed for finishing times of 2 to 4 hours or 6 to 12 hours, this is a great way to give the sport a try, or introduce a friend to lots of fun. This race will take place at the same time and place as our 12 hour race. Your entry includes pre race clinic and a Q&A session hosted by some of the best AR racers in the sport. These veteran racers will give you race strategies and tips in these sessions.

The Folsom Lake Sprint Adventure Race takes racers in and around Folsom Lake via kayak, trail running and mountain biking. Depending on the height of the lake some of the running sections can involve swimming options, adding an extra challenge to the race format. Spending time in or near the water is generally a welcomed feature as temperatures during early summer can be on the hotter side. Racers will enjoy some of the best mountain biking trails around, which are beginner/intermediate level.

Map & Compass:

We provide you with Topographic maps that describe the shape of the land. They define and locate natural and manmade features (forests, creeks, rivers, canyons, buildings, bridges.) They show the distance between any two places, and they also show the direction from one point to another. Distances and directions take a bit of figuring, but the topography and features of the land are easy to determine. The topography is shown by contours. These are imaginary lines that follow the ground surface at a constant elevation; and can provide information on the natural form of the land around you. Throughout the Big Blue Series you will navigate from place to place on land and water using topographic and other map forms and of course a compass.
