Winter is over and Oregon’s largest mountain bike event is ready to thrill and challenge racers of all ability levels. Come to Ashland for an exhilarating two days of racing and fun in the spring weather of Southern Oregon. The Spring Thaw has something for everyone. It is a great first race or a way to challenge yourself early in the season.

The weekend is perfect for beginners, pro racers, and spectators. So, come out and race or cheer on all the riders! It is brought to you by the Southern Oregon Mountain Bike Association and a portion of the proceeds from the event go toward local trail building efforts.

Race Details

This event has 2 races:
  • CROSS COUNTRY : By popular demand, we are using the same long course as last year. Racers enjoyed the added single track on the climb and descent. Riders start on a paved climb, turn right at the top of the park and ride up Road 2060 to Horn Gap Trail. From there, it’s a single-track climb up to Ashland Loop Road, where the high-speed fun begins! The Loop Road is slightly downhill to Four Corners, and then it’s nearly all singletrack, miles and miles of it, back to the finish line. Beginners turn left at the top of the park and begin climbing up and out of Lithia Park to Toothpick Trail and then down the singletrack back to Lithia Park. There will be awards, great raffle prizes, and a hot meal waiting for everyone at the finish line.
    Cost: $16 - $26

  • DOWNHILL : The Downhill begins at Four Corners high in the Ashland Watershed. The course takes place entirely on the Catwalk Trail – 1.7 miles of adrenalin rush to the bottom where it intersects Toothpick Trail. This course has plenty of technical sections, tight switchbacks, a couple of all-out straight sections, and the last 60 yards is a slight uphill to the finish – a little bit of everything thrown in to even out the competition. You’ll get plenty of practice time in and our free shuttle to get you back up to the start line. When it’s all over, kick back to a great lunch while you’re waiting for the awesome prize raffle and awards to start.
    Cost: $30
