For 22 years, the Keyesville Classic has drawn casual riders , pro mountain bike racers and their friends and families to participate in a fun-filled weekend of bike-related events and activities. From the entertaining Vintage class, Observed Trials, and popular Kids’ Race, to the highly challenging Bionicon All-Mountain Stage Race where riders tackle the Short Track, Cross-Country and Downhill courses all on the same bike, the Keyesville Classic has something for everyone, riders and spectators alike.
Every year, the Keyesville Classic brings together local riders, advocacy groups and racers from all over the West Coast to raise awareness and generate contributions for trail stewardship in the Kern River Valley, and southern California. Up until last year, the Southern Sierra Fat Tire Association (SSFTA) in Bakersfield ran the event, and at one point it was the largest race on the west coast. Bionicon now directs the event with support from the SSFTA from their newly opened headquarters in Kernville.

Cross Country

Course Description: The cross country course will be the Keyesville Classic Course, an 8.25 mile loop that includes fast downhill singletrack, climbs, rutted fire road, fast, flowy single track, and fire roads. Each lap has approximately 1400’ of climbing/descent.

Experts/Pros: Three Laps
Sport: Two Laps
Beginner: One Lap

Downhill

Course Description: The Downhill race will consist of two runs, one down the Dutch Flat course, the other down the Snake Pit course. Results will be based on the combined time for the two runs. There are some exciting changes from previous year’s courses, so plan to do a pre-ride of the course.

Short Track

Course Description: The Keyesville short track course weaves its way in and around Keyesville, the staging and camping areas. It is wide, fast, fairly flat, but with enough quick little sprint climbs, turns and dips to keep it really interesting. The course is approximately 1/2 mile long.

Experts/Pros: 20 minutes then three laps
Sport: 15 minutes then two laps
Beginner: 10 minutes then two laps
