The 2nd annual Ridge Trail Festival will be held Saturday October 8th, 2011 at Redwood Park in Arcata, CA and on Sunday October 9th in Willow Creek, CA. The festival will feature a full day of events including: a beer festival featuring local breweries, local bands and a local food BBQ; vendor booths, bicycle demos, a mtn. bike learning center, and kids ride, Citizen’s Fun Ride and 5k run/walk, X-Country and Super D races on Saturday and epic Downhill and Short Track Races on Sunday. This is a USA Cycling event, but one day licenses are available. To make the day even better 100% of the proceeds go to benefit the Arcata Ridge Trail project, a new 4.5 mile single track trail through the Arcata Community Forest.

Cross Country

Cost: $25
License: USA Cycling (one day license available)
Course Description: Featuring over 1200 feet of climbing per 8 mile lap, this course tackles punchy uphill climbs, beautiful single track and some technical challenges. Not for the faint of heart! The races will be 2-3 laps in length depending on category.

Super D

Cost: $25
License: USA Cycling (one day available)
Course Description: The course takes between 10 and 15 minutes to complete and has fantastic single track sections, false flats and a climb or two (they are short, but painful), two stairs sections and a bridge all through the redwoods ending in Redwood Park.

Short Track

Cost: $25
License: USA Cycling (one day license available)
Course Description: A very challenging short track course through the trees; a painful way to start your day. This course is approximately .4 of a mile in length and features roots, rocks and sweet single track. Fight for position on the first couple of laps, because it is a tough course for passing.

Downhill

Cost: $25
License: USA Cycling (one day license available)
Course Description: One of the best downhill courses in northern California, full of drops, chutes, rocks, steeps and logs, this course has it all for the downhill racer. And it can be shuttled easily! Runs will take 4-6 minutes.
