Santa Barbara MTB Classic hosts 15k, 50k, 100k, and 100 mile XC mountain bike endurance divisions, in addition it will host the 17.5 mile Camuesa Peak race, the inaugural race for 2014 Santa Barbara MTB Cup Series*.

The inaugural SB MTB Classic will be hosted at Upper Oso Campground on Saturday, October 4th, 2014, centrally located in the Lower Santa Ynez Recreation Area, 20 minutes from upper State Street and Highway 154, Santa Barbara’s popular hotel and shopping local.

The SB MTB Classic is the result of three and a half years of arduous development and commitment to create a permitted XC Mountain Biking event hosted entirely within the multi-use district of the Santa Barbara Ranger District, Los Padres National Forest. The event is developed with special attention to maximize use of the public access areas in the Lower Santa Ynez Valley recreation area and minimize impact within the interior portions of the forest region.

The Santa Barbara MTB100 is the first 100k and 100 mile XC mountain bike event to be permitted and in the Los Padres National Forest and the Southern California coastal mountain range.

Web registration is available. Opens on 2014-08-20. Closes on 2014-10-03.

Course Description: The Santa Barbara MTB Classic is hosted on an out and back route primarily consisting of OHV and dirt roads. Those familiar with the Santa Barbara Ranger District’s OHV and dirt roads know the technicality of what they’re in for; those who aren’t will learn soon enough. Whether you’re riding the 15k or the 100 mile, you’re in for a lot of elevation gain and loss. Temperatures will range from 70° on the ridgelines to 85°+ in the canyons. Overall event cutoff time is 12 hours
